It really works quite well (the novel) because you get direct access to several different POVs.

I guess I can sort of understand why this image popped up in my Facebook feed. Because, as I've noted elsewhere, sooner or later an online discussion will devolve into debate about whether pocket T-shirts are back. www.facebook.com/groups/42298...

If I had known my legal career would require me to understand AI, I'd have gotten an LL.M. (It wouldn't be a verifiable fact that I understood AI, but I'd know the most probable ways to say I do.)

Sure, every Supreme Court may have one insurrectionist justice now and then, but isn't two perhaps a little too much?

I should admit that when you detect "condescension" in anything I post, it's most often a symptom of frustration, impatience, and even rage that I'm suppressing. This is an imperfect solution to my emotional problems, but it does have the benefit (I believe) of improvements in my writing style.

Trump actually does follow one philosophical precept: Test All Norms To Destruction. If he had been your kid, you too would have exiled him to military school.

Netflix's UNFROSTED is a slow-building, lovingly parodic comedy that abruptly escalates into a deeply absurdist avalanche of jokes. Now if only Netflix would hire the writers of UNFROSTED--Seinfeld, Feresten, and Robin--to rewrite all the dialog in REBEL MOON.

I had someone point me to the "verify" command in ChatGPT. It doesn't, in fact, verify; it produces something that simulates verification. Like all bullshitters, LLM-based AI generates something that has superficial plausibility--what it doesn't do (or at least not very often) is admit ignorance.

After quizzing ChatGPT with some straightforward factual questions to which it confidently gave wrong answers, I realized that my problem with LLM-based AI is not that "hallucinates" or "lies." It's that ChatGPT, as implemented, doesn't hesitate to produce bullshit.

I generally hate the White House Correspondents Dinner. But if Trump agrees to debate Biden, I pray that the debate organizers adopt the Correspondents Dinner format so that Biden and Trump can do alternating standup sets about each other.
