The fact that Tesla is (or maybe was it’s been a rough month) valued higher than all other US car makers COMBINED remains one of the most bonkers things. It’s mostly based on finance people thinking Elon is magical which tells you all you need to know about finance imo
Tech bros pouring their money into vaporware.
Promising themselves: “everybody gonna get rich 'fore this here bubble done pop”
Buy-in before I finds myself poor.
Someone pointed out that all of Tesla's profits come from selling carbon credits to other automakers that do not have enough EV sales. The other automakers are catching up and that income for Tesla will disappear.
Are those finance people wrong though? It’s no different than people paying $36 for Trump’s media stock. If someone will pay $149 for a turd, then it’s truly worth $149 and someone out there really might pay even MORE for the turd.
I once was an assistant to a guy who was an adviser to an investment bank. They gave him an office at the bank as part of his deal. So I got to observe both what came across his desk, and the people who worked there. I lost any sense that financiers know a fucking thing about what they invest in.
I have always struggled with this. Go ahead, think he's a genius if you must, but Tesla's doing well in a small niche market. Maybe it's the future or maybe it's the automotive equivalent of BlackBerry. Don't throw all your money at it!
Many Tesla drivers, and some of the Tesla Board, are definitely not Elon fans...he has become a negative. But. Have you ever driven a Tesla? Critics should. Whoever are the real brains behind these cars did well.
Its that shitty thinking that our media creates that people with a lot of money are somehow amazing thinkers....
It just is not true. Look at how Bill Gates is screwing up education.
