They’ve been cleaning up a lot of them and converting them to roundabouts - there used to be a notorious one in Revere that they’ve totally reworked.

Basically traffic in the rotary has right of way. Rotaries are unstriped - it’s Arc De Triomphe rules inside the circle. In heavy traffic there used to be some squirrely rules about going one-for-one (with traffic in the circle yielding in some cases) but that’s officially gone.

Think of a rotary as a vehicular canvas on which you as a driver can paint. Or exchange paint. I think they actually changed the rules so that they are closer to roundabout rules probably 20 years ago. Not that it changed anything. In practice it’s whatever it was when the thing was built.

I have some comments: It’s more like 10 over to 30 over. What do you have against sending it? Exit numbering is irrelevant. All exits are referred by a landmark that was demolished/burned down 30 years ago.

Seems like a million miles away from 10 years ago, when as a military spouse I kept getting surveys about LGBTQ people serving from RAND and they were ridiculous. Like "are you really sure you're ok with your spouse serving with gay people, you do know they are gay" kind of questions.

This is huge. LGBTQ people serve disproportionately and honorably and to imply otherwise was ridiculous. Enforcing these rules harmed readiness, retention and morale.

Hoping this screens closer to me, but apparently 1962's Smog by Franco Rossi has just been restored in full and was screened at AMPAS yesterday. It's somewhat mythical in that it hasn't really been seen in 60 years, and it's one of those films where LAX and LA is the star.
