It's maddening. There was actually a referendum in Canada sent out by the Liberal Federal Government 6-7 years ago, they had a majority at the time, and about 60% of voters said they want FPTP so it kind of died and remains so to this day. People just don't understand the alternatives I think.

actually it's even worse than that. Even Labour's tiny increase doesn't account for it...as most of the increase is due to the changes in Scottish politics. The overall vote share in England is barely any different. ALL the English Labour seat change is due to variation in the other parties.
