One thing I respect about DC - they've kept making cartoons out of their cartoons. (We'll just gloss over the fact that the live action movies they *have* done are mostly eyes-filled-with-molten-gold level horrible.)

I was in a parish for 12 years. Anytime anyone said, "Well, a lot of people have said/complained/spoken to me/emailed me with their concerns" and you asked who it was inevitably always the reporter and one friend. Every. Damn. Time. The insular corporate news world is no different.

Recent events have caused yet another round of "you're just cancelling him and ruining it". Nope, I have an emotional reaction to horribleness and he's the one that ruined some of my favorite books by, at best, being a scumbag, predatory employer. AT BEST.

It's different things for every generation. For example, I wish those born after me could have the experience of whole parts of the day where one is offline and essentially unreachable. Or even where there *was* such a thing as 'offline'.

I completely agree. The self contained story that doesn't require pre-watches and can be enjoyed by genre fans as well as those new to it. I wouldn't say no to folks continuing to explore the short form. Some of my favourite movies are 15-60 minutes long

It's such a shame. Indie games are so amazing. At the risk of being old, I was a kid when single person game releases (evolution, Kings Quest) were almost the rule. Of course things change, but bless you for helping indies get their games out there. The industry is better for it. 👍

A quasar is an active galactic nuclei, most of which are not visible to the naked eye as they are billions of light years away and many obscured by dust. It's a disk because it's lensed gravitationally which bends light passing by, not because it's an alien spacecraft chased by the military.

Library funding is almost always justified through patron numbers. The more people a library serves, the more funding it gets. So even if you don't regularly use a public library, get a library card. It costs you nothing and helps everyone in your community.

Areas that aren't really important (things that aren't human rights, for example) aren't just differing points of view anymore - everything is an existential war now, as you said. We need to normalize seeing something, saying "Hmph. Well, I don't agree with that but whatever" and scrolling on.

It's maddening. There was actually a referendum in Canada sent out by the Liberal Federal Government 6-7 years ago, they had a majority at the time, and about 60% of voters said they want FPTP so it kind of died and remains so to this day. People just don't understand the alternatives I think.
