If you care about the USA, the single best thing you can do today is to contribute to a downticket race thats close. The second best thing you can do is cancel your NYT subscription and use that money for the purpose.
You can also bypass the Paywall of NYT and WaPo
1. Inspect the page
2. Delete the "div" I highlighted in image 1
2. On the "vi-gateway-container", turn off position fixed and overflow hidden to allowing scrolling (image 2)
3. Delete the gradient overlay at the bottom of the template (image 3)
Absolutely agree! Specifically, state legislatures set the election rules, which is where most of the anti-voter stuff comes from. The absolute biggest impact you can have for saving democracy is to do everything you can for those close state legislature races.
I also strongly suggest stealing from The NY Times no no I don’t mean steal a subscription I mean rough up Dash Sulzberger for his milk money every day
Assuming that cancelling your NYT subscription is a net good (which seems a safe assumption), don't you have the "single best thing" and "second best thing" backwards?
Or is the former premised on a contribution much higher than the cost of a typical NYT subscription?

I just donated using @charlesgaba.bsky.social 's handy blue24.org and it makes me feel slightly less garbage to give money to liberal state SC candidates
