New at Assigned: If the British had burned Washington two years earlier, the Knicks and Rangers might play in a venue with an entirely different name.

TL; DR but I'm assuming he had one of those really cool mortars on his head from like, Kentucky, that make the smiley face when they go off.

I remember him. Signed off the practice squad to be 3rd stringer with Cincy during one of those 1-15 seasons. Spent some time as OC at BGSU, IIRC.

I must warn you, you will lose Robbie Fabbri...
That's bad.
But you will acquire Anaheim's goalie
That's good!
But not John Gibson.
That's bad.
The goalie is also cursed.
Can I go now?

We'll have more news in the next week, but CapFriendly going dark shouldn't change much for us. We plan to continue maintaining contract projections for the foreseeable future. We're also hoping to incorporate more salary data into the tools on Evolving Hockey! More to come.

There were a plethora of pieces on him during his "up" time in Toronto about his mental health struggles and the work he put in on them. Good guy at least.
Probably there to be Cossa's Crash Davis, and that's probably not a bad role for him. Plus, that buyout makes him attractively priced.

Well, OK then. If he plays a game in Detroit, I'll be stunned.

Gibson felt too big, like he'd presumptively interfere with Cossa. We've 3 guys competing for the 2nd goalie spot, and no one you're really comfortable making the #1.
Sorta like our D, 6 guys competing for the #5 & #6 spots every night, but two of those guys will also be the #3 & #4 that night...

Talbot seems like a little bit "more" goaltender than I thought we'd be signing. We could (and should) have done this at the start of last year.
I expected a clearance rack move. Like Campbell to a wink-wink "two"-way deal.

Karl Marx: Heel or Face? Common sense says he gets Iron Sheik style booking and Squashed as mid card filler at Summerslam. But I say he could have Cena-esqe runs on both sides. Play to the crowd (every meal a feast!) as a face, be wordy and smarmy as a heel who get rock bottom'd at WM.

Every team should have a Massive Young Dinger Lad who's built like an NFL defensive end and strikes out 400 times a season but also hits balls so hard that his bat starts bleeding

The second item is particularly amusing because now both Grant Fuhr and Tom Barrasso are in the hall. This clearly means that Yzerman, Shannahan, and Lidstrom represent a better team than Gretzky, Messier, Coffey, Lemiuex, and Jagr, since those bums were carried by HoF worthy goalies.

Pretty much. He's got 40ish more wins than Tom Barrasso, 1 more stanley Cup. The two knocks on Osgood are 1. Lack of individual awards (which are kind of hard to win when you play at the same time as Broduer, Roy, and Hasek) and a perception of "carried by good teams."

There was some concern that politics would keep him out for the foreseeable future.
Still patiently waiting for Osgood.

I'm honestly wondering how the league justified approving the trade, unless something really big is on the horizon.
My totally unfounded desire: Yzerman has a deal in place to snag Rutger McGroarty's rights away from Winnipeg, but it's contingent on...things.

-acquired a 2nd round pick
Then
-sent that pick and JAKE WALMAN to San Jose for....nothing?
Rabbit is good and rabbit is wise but....I'm deeply confused.

My absolute favorite thing in sports right now is 16 year old Quincy Wilson running a 44.66 second 400m at the U.S. Olympic trials. This is so insanely fast that it broke Usain Bolt's under 18 WR.
400 meters is one lap around the track, pretty much a full sprint. Oh I love it!

Glad for Bobrovsky, Paul Maurice, and Kyle Okposo.
I also hope this is as close to the cup as Brady Tkachuk ever gets.

I loved the people standing up screaming for a penalty any tike the puck left the ice. There were always a solid number of people standing begging for that call.

Kind of a lousy finals. Feels a little '95 wings - devils-ish. Like...yeah, you won the cup but only because you mucked it up and ground everyone into submission.
Also, Edmonton could swap their bottom four D are borderline AHL.

The story was so tight it led to the "Die Hard on a (blank)" plot that dominated action movies. Die hard on a plane? Check. Die hard on a battleship? Check. Die hard on a city bus? Check.
Kinda like how everyone made a version of Pulp Fiction in 1995-99.

It could be worse. You could have gone with a logo that
1. Also doesn't make any effort to match team colors
2. Is a whitewashing / rebranding attempt by a major petroleum company.
3. Is slang for an opiate that helped kill a player a few years ago...IN TEXAS.
