DMNH has some really neat features, but then you go into the rooms where nothing's been updated since the 50s & it's painfully obvious. The lighting varies so much, too. The displays have moments when you can see the promise, but nobody's putting money into it.

Yeah, Colorado had that state pride around gems/mining for a long time but the Lolbertarians are so dug in that the idea of public money for public resources is anathema other than the Denver/Boulder metro. And you can't keep a museum updated on a tiny sales tax spread among all arts orgs.
