But we know how the "bad apple" saying ends. When it's a person seemingly acting on racist (and I'm going to assume sexist) grounds, then it's tied to something larger. So as much as we should acknowledge lots of people of integrity work on the Hugo's, it's bigger than just one guy.

Oh I know but I couldn't help that initial gut reaction. Seth Meyers used to do a segment, "The Kind of Stories We Need Right Now." This was the exact opposite. The evil parallel universe version.

The stuff coming out on the sponsorship deals, how financing isn't going to be disclosed, how some of the panels were basically paid advertisements with corporate selected speakers and agendas... It's important to remember that the rest of the phrase "one bad apple" is "rots the whole barrel".
