I am seeing reports online that Noam Chomsky has died. I think he was the intellectual I find it most difficult to disagree with because his views were so well-informed, so well articulated, and they came from such a humane place. The age of giants is passing. RIP

It seems not yet certain but it wouldn’t come as a surprise at his very respectable age. Definitely a huge intellectual presence in the second half of 20th century, to my mind in ways both good and bad, but always formidable, yes.

with a controversial opinion re Srebrenica... Also interesting in the current affairs - he refuses to call it genocide as it demeans the victims of the holocaust.
