One professor's "modest proposal" for solving higher education budget issues: eliminate all professors and all students and focus solely on advancing the careers of administrators 😂
How many of the "professors" in these figures are/were adjuncts? The real version: get rid of tenure, hire part-timers, assume students won't know the difference and take their money.
Sobering but not surprising stat line from this piece: In 1990, Pomona College had 1487 students, 180 professors, and 56 administrators. By 2022, students rose to 1740, professors fell to 175, and admins...skyrocketed 6X, up to 310.
The laugh/cry emoji feels particularly apt.
