I'm hopeful that hearts will soften and people might do some unblocking once we get through this to the convention. I haven't blocked any Biden-stay-in people over this, I think mostly just been blocked by them, but I'll revisit my blocklist and try to do some unblocking when it's over.

Republicans & bad faith media are going to attack the Democrats regardless of what happens. Harris will of course be subjected to all the same slime and nonsense Biden is. Switching is a drastic measure, not taken lightly, but Biden's ability to campaign is seriously diminished. Desperate times.

understandable! I'm with him if he stays in. Meanwhile, boosting Kamala hard bc A) she is the clear only alternative and B) even if Biden stays in, Kamala needs a boost, and to be a prominent part of the campaign. The likelihood of her taking over in a Biden 2nd term is high and voters know this.

I mean the thing is, the second the candidate himself even hints that he is considering dropping out, it's over. which means even if he is privately considering it, of course he's going to vociferously deny that in public right up until the moment he decides. that's normal!

I don't assume it would be smooth sailing. I see that Biden is too old to imagine he will still be president in 2029. Which means even if he stays on we are asking voters *implicitly* to elect Kamala to replace him when he gets too old or dies. So let's be explicit about that instead.

Okay let's try this again. Biden DOES NOT resign as president. Biden steps down as *nominee* and endorses Kamala, still the sitting VICE president, not president, as the 2024 Democratic nominee instead of him. Kamala chooses any Dem VP nominee she wants, a matter purely for the DNC, not congress.

Point being that it's perfectly possible for Biden to release his delegates and say he will not accept the nomination (ideally endorsing Kamala Harris for a smooth transition to her as nominee) but NOT resign as president. Which means he stays on only until inauguration day 2025.

I like you and don’t want us to block each other! I think there are some situations where rage arises because of bad circumstances and comes out sideways in unproductive ways. This to me is one of them. Biden’s visible deterioration was not inevitable - many 86 year olds and older are sharp.
