Similarly, I don't know who "Andy" is, despite having been that for a solid fifteen years. It's a family name - one for firstborn grandsons going back several centuries. I won't mind passing it on - but I'm weirdly more attached to my surname. It's what I call myself.

It's such a strange, nebulous thing. It's not a deadname to me. I'm not offended by it. I don't care that it's on my government documents. And I know when my mom chose it for me, she chose with care and love. But it's just... not right for the person I grew up to be.
