Hi, I'm a trans person and I want to say that gender affirming surgery for minors is exceptionally rare, PARTIALLY FOR MEDICAL REASONS! The youngest I know of was 16, so this isn't as big or contentious as people are making it out to be. Puberty blockers are front line care for trans minors.

And of course there are exceptions to just about every rule, and not all surgeries carry the same risks. It's a bad idea to make a blanket statement that any surgery done for gender affirming reasons should not happen until the age of maturity, but surgery is not a common intervention for minors

the white house comment is obviously pandering to right wing voters. instead of holding firm to commitments, they do this all the time which is why this entire country is on the slide to fascism. it's disgusting
