And it's definitely a 'dude' freak out, not so much the ladies. I think the men are getting a bit hysterical and should probably calm down. And smile more.

I've asked people this: How does your not voting help the Gazans? I do not get a clear answer. So bascially, it's about them feeling better about themselves.

I'm actually sympathetic toward "not voting because of genocide" because I went through a similar process in 1996 because of Clinton 's handling of Bosnia and Rwanda. But I'm not a single issue voter when it comes to the presidency.

It's the narcissim for both cases, it's not about the babies, or the Gazans, etc, it's about their moral purity.

Oh, it's a personal preference. If your goal is stopping the genocide then your not voting doesn't make a difference in that, it just makes you feel better about yourself.

I believe that Israel is commiting genocide in Gaza and that the US response has been horrible. But I'm also old enough to realize a lot of 'support' for Palestinians is often less actual support and more about 'look at me, I'm so virtuous!'

Everyone will have to make their own choice: is Gaza your primary focus, above anything else foreign or domestic. Is your goal harm reduction for Palestianians? Does your non-vote achieve that?

I have friends who still can't accept that Bernie wouldn't have been able to accomplish what Biden has. They really got hung up on the personality and not whether Bernie had the political and staffing skills to accomplish what he wanted to do.

The evening of the El Paso shooting I remember thinking our time was going to come soon: shopping mall, one of the schools nearby, the entertainment/historical district down the street. Woke up the next morning, it was the historical district. It's this terrible and horrible sensation.

When I was on a side trip to Leningrad in summer 1988, my study group ran into a young woman whose paternal grandparents left Maryland for the USSR in the 1930's. They realized their mistake pretty quickly but then weren't allowed to leave.

I have a friend who really really didn't want to face the reality that it's not uncommon to forget your child in the backseat; that it really is just a horrible accident. I think she didn't want to face that it could have happened to her.

The characters are unlikeable, though I often had twinges of sympathy for the Logan kids. But the writing is top-notch, as is the acting. Also moments of very dark humor. So yes, if that's your thing, give it a shot.

My Mom was alive back in summer of 1992, when the news of the Bosnian camps came out. Mom's response was: I don't to know all the details to know how bad it is.
Did I heed this a few years later, when I started reading about Bosnia/Rwanda/genocide in general? No, I did not, took me a few years.
