BREAKING: The Supreme Court unanimously agrees to toss out a challenge to the FDA’s rules for prescribing and dispensing abortion pills — saying the anti-abortion doctors who brought the case failed to show they had been harmed.
Last week, Republicans blocked a bill that would enshrine a federal right to contraception nationally. Extremists are headed for measures beyond abortion. We see it play out in states across country with lawmakers attacking IVF and contraceptives.
Well, that makes two surprises for this case. That /this/ lopsided SCOTUS agreed to dismiss an anti-abortion-based challenge against the FDA (at least for now), and also that this was one of "the rare case[s] in which a government regulator and the industry it regulates were on the same side."
Yeah, this was just a deferral to another time during an election year.
The suit should have never even made it this far, and there’s enough trial balloons in it to help in 2025 when the next group of doctors try this.
The 5th circuit is a bunch of hacks.
When I first learned that this case was brought by doctors who ‘might be harmed’ by the consequences, I thought is it not possible to find an awful lot of actual doctors who have been actually traumatised by dealing with, fer instance, school shootings, and bring a firearms case? No lack of standing
🤣🤣 harmed over a pill. I'm harmed over their lack of intelligence and willing take people's medical rights away because of pressure from the Christian conservative right wing minions. If you want more of this BS go ahead and vote for stinky tRUMP. Don't cry and play the victim after the fact.
It's surprised me that NPR hasn't spent more time talking about the unavoidable biological fact that interfering in women's medicine is just plain religious honor killing.
