Rats are actually really amazing creatures. If you want an affectionate, intelligent pet but don't feel like you have the bandwidth for a cat or dog, I highly recommend a rat.

I had wondered why something called a "Giant pouched rat" was so in demand as pets, back before the US outlawed importation. But they're just, like, giant rats that live 3-4 times longer than a regular rat, and are every bit as sweet and loving? SO a rat you can hug, and that lives a long time? 😃😀😀
