this is a new one. I have heard online that there are supposedly parts of the country where "coke" is used as a generic term for soda in general (Pepsi, Sprite, Fanta, anything sweet and carbonated) although I have never actually encountered any evidence of this IRL. 1/2

This is my region of the country, although there has been a noticeable shift to "soda" in my lifetime.

Are you doing the reverse? Using "soda" to specifically mean cola? 2/2
