That very well could be but by "prepare" I mean they should also be working on messaging, not just making sure of the legal framework. Making sure that people know those ballot rules in advance so they're not hearing about it from the first time from Trump or the GOP.

And they should be preparing NOW to head off the Heritage Foundation. Even if Biden doesn't step aside, they should have people working on this issue now just in case. Waiting until the last minute and then shouting "this is not normal!" etc. is what they shouldn't do.

It was literally just a year ago. Many op-eds were written telling her to step down, many excuses were made why she shouldn’t. Concerns began in 2010 but Ds rallied behind her in 2018. This was all discussed a year ago.

And that's the thing, if this was just one bad debate performance then Biden should have IMMEDIATELY set up unscripted interviews, done town halls all weekend, etc. and yet here we are almost a week after and none of that has happened.

This is assuming that it was, in fact, just one bad debate performance and not what everyone thinks it is, serious cognitive decline. If Biden were to be replaced now, there's still plenty of time to recover, if he goes into the debate in September and be the same or worse than it's over

I think there's definitely something to be said about the DNC putting their finger on the scale, especially with how the primary went down in 2020, but I think the "electability" concept is the biggest offender. "Electability is the "prevent defense" of politics.
