I've lived in BW and Bayern fwiw, although I prefer life in some of the more freewheeling northern cities (Berlin, Hamburg, Köln etc.)

Absolutely, although as I'm sure you know the category of "foreigner" matters. I'm a pale and blue-eyed (but dark-haired) Italian citizen and native German speaker. My experience registering might as well have been a different country than the Turkish students I knew, even ones with German family.

I'm not joking by saying that German bureaucracy is easier. Sure it's complicated and it's slow, but if I bring the (tedious) paperwork to the Amt as specified, things will happen correctly and at a reasonable pace most of the time.

I'm very close. As a dual national who has lived in various places I've experienced multiple systems (Italy, US, Germany, and Canada), and the US tax and healthcare systems interact so badly with my executive function problems that it's a factor in my potentially leaving again.

So far the best in terms of sheer quality are Taquería Al Pastor (the restaurant) and Ilegal Taquería. However, for tacos the latter especially can be expensive relative to the quantity of food. Cocoyoc has the best price/quality/quantity ratio.

The Bushwick subreddit has descended to a level I didn't think possible, and that's saying something. Currently, it's in a racially-tinged race to the bottom over who is a "transplant" and/or "colonizer." Meanwhile, life here off the internet is still fine™️ (if very humid)

All of my colleagues, most of my collaborators, and even many of my clients have known I'm a furry since like 2016. There is no "outing" to be done lol.
