Last year I had 3 root canals done. They were less painful than a regular filling. Modern equipment, effective anesthesia and a competent orthodontist is what made the difference. On two occassions I felt a twinge of pain and the procedure was stopped while I was given more numbing in the area.

I was dreading mine but left pleasantly surprised by what a minor deal it ended up being. Certainly not an ideal way to spend an afternoon, but apparently they've come a long way. Hopefully yours is as easy (assuming this means you're getting one).
