To my UK friends, today is a very good day. You have the chance to correct the pain inflicted on you since the Tories came back to power. It won’t be perfect or pretty, at times you’ll doubt you voted right, but it’ll be a damn sight better than what you currently have to deal with.

Of course, my favourite of his performances is Oddball. I was describing him to someone as a hippy tank driver in World War II and, while that description was overly simplistic, Sutherland's energy and enthusiasm make him shine above his other co-stars (who were all trying to have their 5 minutes).

Snow was evil through and through and for him, he's using evil to maintain the way of life he'd helped to invent. When the final denouement occurs, suddenly Snow isn't the most evil but that's only because of a race to the bottom of the barrel. That's all behind that wistful smile of Sutherland's.

Watching the last of the Hunger Games movies with my girl, I was amazed at Donald Sutherland's ability to make a monster like Snow still feel likeable. It was the way he interacted with Jennifer Lawerence, it had the cadence of a grandfather chiding their favourite grandchild.
