The Bairn is camping with her Nana for a few days, so we're packing her room for the move. I'm 90 odd minutes into the job and the main question I have is why has she strategically stashed so many stuffies through the room? Just when I think I've found them all, another appears!

Packing up my den/workspace and I found these! VHS copies of Clerks and Mallrats! It's like a Xennial Starter Kit of movies that I'm finding! Found some great John Woo films too!

Sometimes you just need to give up, buy the giant lumberjack sub from the grocery store, and accept that's your reality for the next two to three meals. And then realize with that first bite that it was the right choice.

There's so much depth to the mythology and its adjacents it's not even funny. Then when you add on all the popular interpretations and Christian influences? Lots of stuff dalls through the cracks.

2/2...respective biological sexes camps to be raised. There's not a lot I found out past that, but it's interesting none the less. This also led to me finding out that Ares is the father of the first Amazon (which makes a lot of sense with the warlike bit) and yeah. The more you know!

Stuff I learned about from The Venture Bros: Gargareans. "Gargarean" is the name used by Warriana (a literal Amazon) for Brock Sampson, and that led me to the Gargareans. Apparently they're the male analogue to the Amazons. The meet annually to hook up, and the offspring are sent to their...1/2

2/2... many high end sports still exist, and act as feeders in some cases to the higher levels. The only thing stopping it right now is that the tech doesn't exist. But even now we're seeing people trying to move the bar. www.reuters.com/sports/enhan...

Likewise, track, basketball, and the rest could easily succumb to the same events. We don't have cyberware like that IRL, but the idea that it would be rapidly normalized and become dominant in the upper levels of a sport that already exists isn't far fetched. I agree on the undercurrent of ableism, but disagree on the socioeconomic assessment of sport. Ice Hockey is a great example, it hasn't been a low income accessible sport in decades, and it has a huge following. Likewise with motorsports. Low income accessibility doesn't matter as much anymore.

Today in things that hit different once you know: The Odd Angry Shot (1979) is an early post-Vietnam movie from Australia. When I was a young trooper, I didn't get it. It wasn't what a war movie was supposed to be, or a war. Watching it now, post two tours in Afghanistan? I get it. It hits home.

More that not only is he not an archaeologist, but he's also pushing deeply discredited ideas. A lot of archaeologists are happy to get takes and ideas from people outside the discipline. He isn't providing those though.

And to be clear, archaeology is a *DYNAMIC* field. Counter to popular narratives portrayed in media, it's gone through a lot of serious change since the 1950s and is less about forcing evidence to fit a narrative and more about letting the evidence build a narrative now. I cannot overstress how good this is. Ancient Apocalypse is a thinly rebranded Ancient Aliens and promotes some seriously racist trash ideology. Ancient lost super civilizations are fun for #TTRPG #WorldBuilding, less fun for IRL indigenous peoples.

Influenced by you. Lots of people from Ontario and the US Midwest immigrate internally and bring their language with them. Plus there's the cultural influence.
