Also, goats are *delicious*.
(Relatedly, I have some very white American friends who raise goats for meat, and who always name them things like Taco and Curry just so everyone knows the score.)
I honestly wasn't aware there was any taboo against goat, other than it being 'exotic' because it was a little harder to get in most places, and I lived in the US for years. Mind you, I'm from Newfoundland, where mutton and goat were hardly uncommon traditionally.
When I got really mad at my goats I renamed them Curry and Vindaloo.
I *almost* took them to a butcher, but my family wouldn't let me (they also don't let me eat our chickens, and am forced to buy chicken from the store).
