If you're the president you can totally ignore NYT if you want to. You can totally sideline CNN. You can decide you don't want to ever speak to WaPo. Great. Go for it. You absolutely cannot run a campaign doing all of those at the same time.

Biden fucking shines when he's talking to real people about their problems. He's a born campaigner. He needs to get the hell out there and take a solar panel installation crew out to lunch. He needs to go to a small business that opened because the owner isn't saddled with student loan debt.

We do, in fact, have a recent example of a presidential campaign deciding to not talk to the press, and the result was the country elected Mr Trump. You do have to actually engage with the press, even if you don't like what they have to say or think they will be mean to you.
