They need to grasp that for it to get news hits, it needs to be *news*. He needs to telegraph in advance that he'll announce something new, then do it. That's why speeches that say "my opponent is bad" or "we've done some good stuff in the past" regularly fail to get much coverage
I’m not going to claim to know what we’ll get more press. Nor let the press off the hook for only covering train crashes.
Part of the well-known problem in the Trump Era, is that he was created in a lab to get attention and be heard in our media ecosystem. And we “cant look away”.
If you do a TV hit for "SCOTUS said I get to be a King, and that's wrong" it's newsworthy really only to the extent you're (a) the president is saying it (b) folks are checking to see if you're still alive after the debate. Which is fine, but it'll necessarily be fairly small
the news media at *best* are a force for politicians to plan out how to get to do what they need--they are not their friends and buddies obligated to do PR for them, no matter how earnestly the politicians would prefer it to be this way
Is that why Trump’s go to “I’ll get that to you in two weeks” every single time he gets asked a policy question is so effective despite never following through?
