All of which is to say: his team doesn't understand /why/ the media is bad for him, and keep retreating to their bunkers, occasionally throwing out a nothingburger speech and being surprised it gets zero traction. But if they had a better team they'd realize it is correctable with better people.

The media is bad for him because it supports Trump. There's some things he can do but the basic bias is still there.

Yes! Some of these things are fixable, like people don't see him doing anything energetic on their behalf, or their only interactions are stilted and highly scripted. For that the WRONG response is to hide him away, script everything further, and let rumors fester.
