I suspect that what a lot of people are missing is that narratives like “Biden needs to do more for X to bother participating as a citizen” reinforces the counterproductive frame in which (especially young) people see refusing to participate as some kind of effective political action.

Can we also ask why we're hanging the entire result of the election on "the young people" when it's the old folks who are overwhelmingly voting us into the woodchipper. Let's blame the generations that are actively pushing us into this shit, rather than "why aren't you entitled brats saving us?"

Um, if the Democratic Party is failing to get that message out to the young people, that's a Democratic Party problem. The Party's and the pundit class's searing contempt for young people isn't helping either. As far as I can tell, young people's voices are simply there to be insulted.
