Our Seattle maritime climate is no match for these now frequent heat domes.
During the last few years of summer heat and forest fire smoke, Iβm now spending more time inside the house than during the winter cold/wet months.

The yellow eyes of Rana aurora (Northern red-legged Frog) for #sundayyellow. This pretty little 2.5" guy was hiding in a blueberry pot yesterday trying to stay cool while finding some shade.
His location was reported as our state tracks native frog populations. πΈ

Grapes and raisins have a substance that damages the kidneys in dogs. A small amount can be lethal. Like humans, what effects one dog may not effect another.
Maybe Larkin was thirsty?

Red currants from the Gooseberry family like the plant Larkin is feasting should be safe, no kidney damage. Eating too many will cause digestion issues. Grapes and raisins = β οΈ

So many temps in the US above 100, ugh! I'm not surprised by that article. The longer a core body temp is over 104 degrees without cooling treatment, the higher the risk of severe complications and damage to internal organs and the brain. If I remember, the heat permanently damages organ cells?

I get it. We had AC/heat pump installed when we bought our house 18 years ago and I was laughed at by the neighbors. Now they all have AC.
In the Seattle region, AC has become very popular. Climate change is real and I bet those knuckleheads who disagree have AC in their homes.

π― Not cooling down at night thanks to the saturated air really intensifies the total heat effects on the body. It's not just urban heat islands anymore. Heat is the most deadly of all extreme weather events and doesn't get much coverage because it is not as 'exciting' as hurricanes and tornadoes.

Right! Our 6' fence was not an obstacle, it was a play toy. One time we watch the cubs and mama climb up our maple tree and back down. The claw marks were impressive and scary!

We didn't see it, only the bent hook and missing suet feeder. A couple weeks prior, a full grown daddy black bear was in the back yard, the largest black bear I have seen. I was a little stunned by his size. Scared him off making noise before he found a bird feeder, forgot to take a picture π€¬
