If you're lucky enough for your schedule to allow amtrak and commuter rail, it's all off the same bank of platforms at South Station, so no escalators/elevators! But again, commuter rail times are hard that late.

You can get to the T completely on elevators, it's just a weird route (until the construction project is done). 4 elevators, two down from bus term, up the ramp to train platform, one hidden-away one down to subway mez, and one post-fare gate to subway platform.

I'm also tall and broad shouldered, so I don't find busses very comfortable, which is part of why I strongly favor the train. You're mileage (literally, ha) may vary.

Never had that level of problems, but yeah Grayhound is hit or miss quality, and now that Flixbus owns them, there are runs that aren't even on Grayhound operated busses but some of the really budget bus classics. PP is far more consistent.

I often travel with a rolling tool box and a compact suitcase. It takes up room, but the bus is never really packed. LSL is roughly 6p-830p SPG-BOS and 1p-330p BOS-SPG. Both connect to/from G73E fairly easily, especially since the G73E got a major frequency improvement this spring.

Finally, I also do end up staying in the Quincy area often, and for that I try to take the red line (which has been unbearably slow the past few years) or commuter rail to Quincy Center (not many options after the late Lake Shore arrival). One hotel has a limited hours shuttle, but Lyft is common.

I strongly prefer the train for the SPG-BOS part, but since it runs once a day late, I end up on either Peter Pan or a Grayhound/Flixbus if I need to be in earlier in the day.

Doing it direct by train is nearly impossible as the NHT-SPG leg doesn't line up with SPG-BOS at all... I do this trip frequently for work. I do PVTA Ehamp-Noho-SPG, then either a bus or the Lake Shore Limited to Boston, depending on time of day.

While obviously it should be possible to get around without having to ride in vehicle lanes, one good thing about MA is our universal law that bikes may take a full lane. As a ebike rider now living out west I mix with traffic everywhere. Drivers still get angry, but at least there's a law.

Always important to remember the cyclist paradox: They should get a job so they can buy a car like a real adult and also cycling is a niche hobby for rich people with too much time on their hands and not representative of real people.

(Disappointingly this is actually a string concatenation bug, where the 7th and 8th are written as 77th and 88th, respectively, not actual numbers calculated by the date code, but it's still what was spit out when you asked for a date, so I'm counting it.)

The problem with ebikes is that my trip to the farther grocery store should have been nine miles round trip, but I was antsy after not riding all week so I rode some extra loops around town to make it an even eighteen miles instead.

During the start of covid I was working in disaster response, and I was flying for work constantly throughout 2020 and 2021 following hurricanes and running covid support. Didn't get covid at all until mid 2022, when I caught it the first time I flew after the mask requirements were lifted.

It's essentially just a small window (ha) during weekday commuter morning rush. I've seen it a few times but I'm also usually not using that station at that time.

Definitely get out and vote! Get friends to vote! Don't tell them they're at fault for voting wrong if the obvious choice candidate can't draw enough delegates to win in a gerrymandered system.

Voting is good, I recommend doing so. Especially for local elections - state and municipal officials are extra important right now. But you are not at fault for the outcomes of elections. A candidate is responsible for earning votes.

Even better, the best way to Boston from at location would be 91 South to 90, the opposite direction of the traffic that can see the billboard.

MassDOT must have pushed the current Sumner Tunnel closure info campaign seen around Boston to all their billboard spots as I just saw it on I-91 North leaving Springfield, a highway that at the closest point is 80 miles from the tunnel.

I'm glad the the State of Massachusetts and MASSDOT are making progress on East-West Rail/Compass Rail, but commuter service to Springfield/Pittsfield needs to be a high priority. Anyone who rides Amtrak 448/449 knows that a large number of seats to "Chicago" are travelers going to Western MA.

We got tricked by science fiction into thinking a futuristic city is all about flying cars and crystal towers and hologram billboards but what it really looks like is nice apartment blocks, good mass transit, pedestrian zones with shade trees and safe bike lanes.

Slack was always designed for the workplace, we were always sorta hacking it to use it for community groups anyway, but it had a slightly better fit for endless software-related meetups and usergroups. That said Discord is a big upgrade with a single account not tied to instances.

Discord has just never been my style. I'm not a gamer, I don't want cartoon emoji on everything and constant voice chat channels. It works fine for other purposes, and it's probably my preferred group messaging solution these days, but it's always clear that it's designed for someone other than me.

I'm not a huge fan of Discord, but I really appreciate it for community group communications, especially as Slack is now sending me daily notices that they are about to start deleting content from the various old slack instances I have that I'm not paying $12/mo per member to use.

Instead of normal emergency lights for power loss, they used integrated ones as worklights. There's an issue we're trying to solve for where random work lights switch to emergency and turn on full while the worklight switch is off.

As a bonus, people keep forgetting to turn elevator IS off, so after they use it the elevator platforms, opens its door, and stays out of service where left. And it's a solo elevator, not in a bank, so this means no elevator access anywhere when offline.

Definitely ask folks who use BM cameras. I've given away keys I got with hardware in the past! I really wouldn't recommend the editing surface for editors who use the edit page, it's really way more useful on cut which I won't touch, but for folks who use Pr for social videos it may be useful!

Absolutely no reason to use multiple apps for different parts of post workflow, especially if you're doing multiple roles as one person! Resolve frustrates me in many ways, but single app workflow alone makes it my preferred platform.

If you're interested in the editing keyboards, they come with licenses. The basic editing control also costs $300. I personally don't like it, but if you think it might work for your style (content creation, podcasts, etc), you can get the hardware and license at the same price as the license only.
