One thing I love about the myths the military tells itself is about its professional discipline, when in reality what the nazis hated about fighting is was that we didn’t follow our own doctrines and so they couldn’t predict what we were going to do on the battlefield.

Please cite a reliable scholarly source, because this has long been proven to be a myth. During WWII, tactical doctrine was fire and maneuver to find, fix, and destroy an enemy. Which is what divisions and corps did, while Army groups worked to cut off retreating Nazi formations.
