White nationalist infiltration of the military IS a prob, but is not institutional in the way the left sometimes seems to think. The left is disfavored by the mil establishment because it’s seen as anti-military, IME, but the radical right is illegal b/c it’s cancerous to good order and discipline.

Also, this includes hate symbols as tattoos (swastika is explicitly forbidden) and flying flags or using white nationalist symbolism in any manner, personal or official (swastika and ‘SS’ lightning bolts are specifically forbidden). Obv, branch, command, local leadership will vary in enforcement.

Similarly, it’s illegal under the UCMJ to be a member of the US Communist Party (NOT DSA), but NOT illegal to espouse the belief that workers should control the means of production. In hindsight, I guess I should clarify that it is illegal to be a member of a white supremacist group; espousing white supremacist views is disobeying a lawful order (which are UCMJ violations depending on how you squint at it), at least in the USAF.

My experience in the AF is that the real freaks are non-combat. I know lots of Mormons & evangelicals in the force, but I think the extremes get worn down by the kind of comraderie a crew aircraft needs. Like you are going to depend on your sensor operator or nav who shows off photos of her wife.
