The second was what I was talking about. I don’t remember who it was exactly, I think a talk I saw in person by a retired army colonel. I was exaggerating for what I hoped would be humorous effect. Oh well!

From what I recall the focus was how crucial the nco corp was to American tactical success, which made us battefield doctrine much more flexible and opaque to Germany’s Prussian officer class.
