Not to mention a symbol, too--and not to go too deep, but further relevant to his past career looking into these things, the symbol's codeletter is, of course, Q.

4 more selections (4 more selections!) from my "Pokémon Go to the Polls" project for #FlashbackFriday. I did 3 more, so it was quite a number of entries. I've always liked #Pokémon & have wanted to do more #fanart, but they never pan out, certainly vs. my MTG fanart.

One worked for Hillary, but after she folded, head writer Favreau hired him for Obama. The Biden friction likely comes from the primary, where they pledged to stay neutral, but quite obviously wanted Warren & had no confidence in Biden, despite their personal history. Biden surely never forgot it.

Some pieces from our #Pokémon Go to the Polls run for a special #TBT. I counted down the days to Election Day & drew weekly one of the corresponding Poké in any Pokédex. This even ran through October, so I was glad I was able to clear both this and Inktober.

I've been waiting for chop-ups from the Yoda-Dooku fight from Attack of the Clones--granted Yoda loses that one, but the set-up is great, as it features two old guys about to throw down while representing the literal forces of good and evil.

Having grown up far from NYC, my only knowledge of this whole world was the buffoonish cartoon character Conan would depict with a still photo and flapping lips saying increasingly idiotic, self-aggrandizing things. All this for that. I hope never to lose sight of that: all of this--for that.

I like to find a fitting Magic: The Gathering card to chuck in there, but if not, any old card will do, of course. Plus it helps you easily remember which page you are on because you always have the cardfront face whichever page you're on. A convenient and customizable system.

Thank you--can't stand "call out" posts that never attach a name. If it bears out to a pattern of anti-democratic behavior, no public thinker should enjoy a reputable standing by effortlessly blending into the faceless blob of their outlet, but should be rendered an unserious joke like Chuck Todd.

If this represents the views of the NYT itself, wouldn't that mean they understand there's a genuine threat to the country, rather than just two differing perspectives to choose from? So then how can they justify their bothsiderism deluge, if they acknowledge one side's indeed good & the other bad?

I was going through some old WIPs for #FlashbackFriday and I never finished this one, but you get the idea. I actually started with the sky, which is normal, but midway I suddenly decided to rotate it on its side to see where the #illustration took me from there. Neat challenge.

On top of that, some of the most bafflingly rude people I've ever met are just the assistants to the talent at conventions. It's bewildering. Having worked as an assistant at events, I get the thrill of feeling like you're contributing to some great artist's work, but let's keep it in perspective.

For #FlashbackFriday, here's the 1st inadvertent cohort to yesterday's #MTGinktober #illustration: I hadn't realized I did a super similar pose here, but I love the ol' tough-guy point/profile. Drawing this was quite a thrill, but I was so nervous I'd mess up the gag somewhere.

Man, it's a hot one, so here's a warmer themed piece from #MTGinktober 2022 for #TBT. I've drawn Jaya a couple of times, but this particular jam became inadvertently connected to 2 other illustrations, which makes it kinda hold a special place to me. Hot trivia, to be sure.

As I understand it, one of the neat functionalities of this site is that if you use a hashtag particular to all your posts related to that campaign, people can just click that hashtag and opt to mute posts with that tag in posts they see from you, so they don't mute you, just those specific posts.

That's great to hear you're having a good time with Magic--& if on Arena, just wanted to write in to encourage you to search "MTG Arena Codes" for a bunch of codes they've released over the years. Draftsim has a current list, I believe (many have expired, but there are a bunch that are still good).

Every now and then The Daily Show will post a video with the names or footage in a Fox "report" swapped so you can get an idea of what coverage would be like if they treated stories as one'd expect--like your post--but I wish there were a dedicated case-swap effort--ideally via video, but also text.

Reverse engineering:
Doh 土 (Doh - Earth, soil, etc.)
Plus 王 (Oh - king, ruler, etc.)
So one reading of 土王 could be "Dirt (clod) king (sire)," so that all seems aligned.
Ironically, rather than sounding like something noble, this reading would kinda sound like Homer Simpson's signature annoyed grunt.

"It shouldn't have made it this far" is surely the anthem of this past decade or so--so much angst and strife have developed and flourished when in any decent circumstance, they would have long been removed from (at least polite) society and never been anything more than gurglings in fringe circles.

It's a little crass, but the opening lines from Aesop Rock here have always hit pretty hard and have stood out as quite impressive (not to discount the amusing and captivating spoken intro clip, but as far as lyrics go, I start counting at "Every couple summers...").

Some painting studies for #TBT. These were all made in Krita, if I recall. They usually start by thinking of an image I've seen and then trying to make something that would feel like it'd fit in with that. Direct copying is more for practicing linework and gestures.

Fan art's Fri. only, but official artists can post any time. Sub's quite warm to official artists since they're rarer--people always ask artists for prints/mat links.
Ex: J. Voss plugs his token campaign monthly or so, & after a new set comes out, artists post full versions, process, even auctions.

Is it professional courtesy that people seem reluctant to place names immediately w/offending articles in these call-out posts? If a pattern of behavior, surely anti-democracy writers shouldn't be rewarded w/untarnished reputations or being granted the obscuring blur of mere credit to the outlet.

You might consider posting to the MagicTCG Reddit--fan artists often show there & get inquiries, as do a few official Magic artists, who hype their latest campaign, etc., so it might be a good spot to drum up business, esp. since MH3 set previews just ended, so new cards don't drown out other posts.
