Catalpa worms look like this, but they usually have a black stripe, too. I'm not sure if they eat aphids or not.

Interesting, I didn't know about that bug. But mine doesn't have an actual head, so I don't think it's a caterpillar. I think Constance might be right that it's some kind of predatory fly larva.
