I’ve been not great, but mostly holding it together. Honestly, my dog’s chronic health issues provide a constant structure I need. He has three scheduled times a day that he HAS to have his meds & his meals revolve around those doses. No matter how much I want, I can’t spend 20 hrs a day sleeping.

My mom would drop me off at the library while she ran errands and did the grocery shopping. It gave me plenty of time to pick out my books for the week without feeling rushed. I loved every moment of my free range library time. And Mom was spared from dragging around a bored, complaining child.

If I were a teacher in Oklahoma, I would teach the Bible and the actual history of its creation by the Emperor Constantine and the political influences that caused his “embrace” of Christianity in such a way that would surely get me fired. Historical document indeed.

I just saw that Paramount has shut down the Comedy Central website! 25 years worth of show clips, including the Daily Show and the Colbert Report are now gone. The erasure of information is happening all around us.

I live in a VERY evangelical area and believe me, they only love Israel. And they only love it insofar as it plays a role in their precious Rapture. To be fair though, most of them do hate Muslims more than they simply dislike Jews.

I was just thinking this the other day when seeing a news story about how many websites and web pages no longer exist and how it’s becoming much harder to use the internet for serious research purposes. It’s turning into just a social media tool and streaming services. We need to save libraries.

I recently read “Demon Copperhead” which is a retelling of “David Copperfield” and it was depressing how almost nothing has changed for orphans and the poor and disenfranchised since the days of Dickens.

I suppose having bad choices is becoming inevitable. Being a mayor of a city like NYC must be an incredibly difficult job if you are really trying to do the best things and also be an honest person. Thus, those running for the job probably don't have the best intentions to begin with.

It’s mostly racism and a very strong hate/fear of brown foreigners. Putting women back “in our place” is a bonus for men. The xenophobia is worldwide. Look at the comments of any news post from Great Britain or Australia or France. Anti-immigrant replies abound.

Suicides by women dropped nearly 20% in the five years following the availability of no-fault divorce. Young women better get out and vote. Many of them have no idea how recently we really were powerless in nearly every way. We’ve only had financial rights for roughly 50 years.

I don’t know what that is, but I wholeheartedly applaud people who take this approach on certain topics. Anytime I’ve done this it’s greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the thing (or allowed me to not enjoy/participate in the thing guilt free).

A billion dollar idea - cars, trucks, and SUVs that are simply cars, trucks, and SUVs. Hell, maybe they'd even have old school keys for locks and ignition in addition to remote unlocks. More focus on safety,reliability, & fuel efficiency and less on gadgets and tech.

And it COMPLETELY ignores the very real discrimination that Black people still face when trying to get a mortgage. There's a reason Black homeownership lags so far behind white homeownership. And it isn't that Black people can't afford a house payment.

I assume, living or deceased, he’ll still be the Republican nominee in 30. His preserved remains will be on display at his rallies while loudspeakers play recordings of past rallies, which in all earnestness will be nearly identical to his current rallies.

I used these one year in a collage for a social studies project (maybe 7th grade?). I loved them and collected them on every vacation. Back in the 70s and 80s, they usually included maps which I also love.
