EXCELLENT!!!
Done, at last - Rachel Reeves scraps the de facto planning ban on onshore wind.
Now at least we can get on with deploying loads of onshore wind - the cheapest form of energy generation we have.

Aha, I get it. A bit like Nigel Farage, Arron Banks and Brexit in the UK then, in fact they're arguably all part of one cabal - Trump, Putin, Farage, Banks, Steve Bannon - part of their attempt to bring in their own form of global autocracy/dictatorship.

was a Republican, and Trump is too, so why would folks bitter about Iraq vote for the same party that caused that bitterness, i.e. by invading Iraq?

Okay, so that's interesting, so you think that, quite understandable, bitterness over the lies told by the US government to justify the Iraq invasion, and the subsequent lack of prosecutions, also added to the rise in support for Trump? If so, what I don't get here is the fact that George W Bush (1)

'just transition', those areas have been left poorer, with the result that their populations have gone over to Trump. My view is that Obama is partly to blame for this. But....I am British....I am just guessing based on what I've read, so I could be wrong, but that's my guess anyway.

no 'just transition'. Many parts of Northern England are still bitter about that now. So, over in the US, now the coal industry has died, where are the clean energy jobs in states like West Virginia? I get the impression there aren't any. So, because in some states there has also been no (2)

I don't think it was just that though. In the 1980s, Margaret Thatcher in the UK closed down most of the coal mines. What generated the bitterness setting off the miners strike, in part, was that there was nothing to replace them, nothing to protect the communities and generate jobs. There was (1)

'just transition', with the effect that coal states - particularly West Virginia - became poorer. Those folks are rabid Trumpists. They are no longer following sense. They are following ideology and lies. The US is a powder keg just waiting to blow up.

But you don't. America is huge. It has a lot of big wide open spaces with small towns with poorly educated populations where the fossil fuel industries have disappeared quickly generating massive bitterness. One criticism I have of Obama is that, in my opinion, he did not do enough to enable a (1)

I don't think it would take much for a spark to set off something. I am also not ruling out an attempted assassination if Trump gets back in.

Not necessarily. If it consists of a series of local gangs and coalitions fighting each other with whatever they have, as was often the case in the American Civil War, people just grab what they can (and it is often nastier for that reason). Also don't forget the Ukrainian uprisings before their war

The Missouri-Kansas border war was dragging on for years before the main conflict in 1861 (the movie "The Outlaw Josey Wales") is based on that. And actually, even the main war itself was mostly a series of small-scale skirmishes and ambushes alongside the big battles.

Guys, if it comes to it, you have to rise up and kick the guy out by force. You defeated evil in 1861, you can do it again. The only suitable place for a fascist is the in the grave.
