So German as a language uses one word for poisonous and venomous? Have I parsed this correctly?

The word is the same for both: giftig. That surprised me. The distinction is important in English, but would it change anything? Could I misread something because there's a subtle language difference I don't know? I tend to look for where I might make mistakes. /1

kind of? it's more like the word is poison and you have to say whether some entity like an animal can deliver it... if you don't specify then it's poisonous but if you do it's venemous? interesting difference.
