Hey does anyone know what happens if a presidential candidate dies after the convention but before the election? Just wondering for historical reasons.

Depending on the exact timing, to do with finalized ballots, their VP candidate would take over the ticket (and name a new VP, ballots updated accordingly) or they would just remain on the ballot as a dead person.
