The premise is false. Said institutions were never truly liberal as they are fundamentally racist wt their core. Subsequent"reforms" over the course of their existence to make them (appear) more liberal were in vain. Ultimately, they serve to protect established white male power structures.
We obviously need institutions for the government to function, but as Leonard stated, the current institutions have long roots to the white supremacist begins of the country that need to be dealt with. But we need to know that the government can actually function, and protect it's functioning.
I'd add: We need to be organized consumers as well. To this day I can't use my dollars at Hobby Lobby, Chik-fil-A or Home Depot.
