I will say Starmer better seize the opportunity to at least patch some of the holes in the UK social fabric, otherwise people are going to turn on him in a hurry

At every single opportunity he's said he will do no such thing.

after the 19 wipeout it’s been a grim 4.5 year wait for an election with no ideological stakes. seems like starmer will just be the next clown in the lineup after may johnson truss and sunak

He basically seems like a Tory from what I can tell, but maybe he'll surprise me.

no matter how much distaste I have for the current Labour leadership and their timid policies, there is no downside to an utter Tory wipeout

If he governs the way he campaigned then he (and we) are screwed. There's good reason to believe otherwise and that he'll be good at actually governing. Though this may be the wrong app for my tepid pro starmer takes.

He's set to have the biggest majority since the days of the Earl Grey in the early 19th century. He better do something bolt with it. Huge political capital to spend . He better do it.

I've been stunned by some of his stay the course promises. It's like Moby Dick where Starbuck and the crew overthrow Ahab because the quest for the white whale is killing them, only to go after the white whale when they see him.
