fascinating. the Labour vote both as a percentage and in numerical terms is *much lower* than it was in 2017

I am a big fan of the result. Labour didn't so much win, but the Tories lost (thanks largely to Reform). I was glued to the screen all night and it was a fascinating story being told.

I think it shows that, in a fundamentally two party system, 3rd parties can have dramatic effects on the *actual seats held*, more than you might expect from their actual vote count. [Americans, considering RFKJr] nope, nothing to see here

Amazing their system is even more nonsensical than ours.

Think 2017 was an aberration election. This was the first post Brexit vote, so the big thing is people did not want to vote 3rd party that year. Lowest third party combined total for a good while.

I mean you’d think they will be in over drive to do big reforms as this is a once in a generation moment but they will talk themselves into doing nothing thinking it will work out again

Having the largest majority in your history by offering nothing and letting the other party explode in disgust is not a good sign for things to come

Honestly 2017 is a huge outlier. A lot of British centrists seemed to believe that voting Labour meant they got to dictate Labour policy.

The Tories took a running headfirst dive off the top of a parking garage. Which is beautiful, of course.

It was mostly an Anti-Tory vote with ALOT of tactical voting . Labour was the primary beneficiary but not the only one LibDems did really well to in seats where they had realistic chance to eliminate a Tory . Vote share was kind of low but record LibDem seats
