Could it be that Trump's outright hatred toward women and people of color have finally changed the tenor of this election. Quinnipiac University runs a very reputable polling operation. They've been polling presidential elections for decades.

Or are these poll #'s an attempt to placate the Dem voter to drop their guard, enough to have the confidence to give a 'protest vote'. It wouldn't be the first time they try to play the game.
