Realizing how often my help for someone was letting them use all my time or tools, use me to social or career climb, etc hurt so much that a few years ago I was left having a hard time trusting others, especially peers which in somewhere I never want to be again

Having people say “I want access to your ______ database, this specific person/company in the industry, or make something for me cheap/free, or step by step how you get this thing in your career—and ghost you afterward or promise help in return but won’t offer it” would have been preferable honestly
