Does this mean it might be legal for Trump to order soldiers to kill immigrants or protesters? Is there a means of stopping him, other than the military not obeying those orders? I'm finding it hard to follow the legal logic of any of this.

I mean, if Sotomayor's opinion is that a president can legally order the assassination of his opponents, doesn't that imply that he can order the assassination of any one of us?

There is no logic. This court is deeply corrupt and they can do anything they want. The only thing that ever kept the Supreme Court in line was comity and tradition. These are 6 sick fucks and I’m 100% sure trump could kill an American citizen as president and get away with it.
