What employers do is another question: free public transport creates a demand glut which politicians are loathe to fund, since existing public trans setups are normally woefully inadequate for massive use. Let it cost something, and use the revenue to subsidize individuals and improve the network.

Certainly the need to steal tylenol and vitamins and hair styling cosmetics has increased. But perhaps there is something about the chain stores' massive growth of shop floor area relative to number of eyes available compared to a more static indie presence. Want bigger? Hire people!

When I was 6 or so, our extended family all lived in NYC. My zayde ran a laundry. He was the only one of us who had a car. When he was delivering in our area, he would always stop by with a Dixie cup ice cream for me. We don't need no stinking starter packs.

Irrelevant aside. My dad programmed one of the first post-WWII mainframes by plugging I/O cables from one wall to another. Later he did this. I used to have the CPM+ handbook including source code. Gone. Other than that, good luck. Remember history
