Yeah, once I disconnected from my comic book continuity database brain I began to enjoy them. They are fun. :) And yeah, they are more like puzzle pieces of adaptations of scenes or arcs in the comics to me.

Yeah, I guess it doesn't, AND you could even have it turn into an anthology type series and even replicate the changing of styles. Aside: I've heard the Marvel movies called adaptations, and I would say they absolutely aren't.

Ok, you might have won me over on Grendel the series. :) I'm such a big Grendel fan I was going to watch it if it came out anyway. I can't believe they were so close and then nothing. :(

I feel like Kabuki was the same, though Kabuki uses the form of the book a little more than Grendel does, kinda, there's some things about the tone of Grendel that I think only work in the book form. It would be hard to replicate some of it I think because the styles change so drastically.

It was definitely something that wasn't planned originally. I think Matt has said so himself, but it became about Grendel as an incarnation and later, what would happen if Grendel, became a religion, and then a complete way of life, taking over a world. It evolved as it went on.

Maybe as a prestige TV series, with a guaranteed number of seasons which probably won't happen in this day and age? I feel like it became "one thing" as a whole and doesn't work as well without its parts.

I don't know I feel like you may lose the overarching tone that the comics set. Maybe Captain Britain. I can maybe see Grendel Prime, since it was adapted into books by Rucka (If I remember right)

For sure. Maybe Zot!? Honestly I would say most of Moore's work, including Captain Britain. Kabuki. Anything after Hunter Rose Grendel.

This sounds like a book for me. "After 40 years an outlaw, Nine Lives, gets caught by Marshall Havemercy Grey. Bounty hunters are after them and will stop at nothing to catch them. Nine Lives agrees to help in return for the marshall hearing the stories of their nine lives."
