It's undeniable that the subsequent Mario Karts got better and better looking as time went on. The music in the recent game Mario Kart 8 is also one of the cooler soundtracks of a lot of games in the racing genre.

Another thing with jumping off a ramp is that the higher air you gain, the more potential boost you acquire while the combo chain is in play

If you time it so that after the 3rd boost you drive off a ramp and land in a drift, you will have reset that boost reserves and you can start back at 1 but with the top speed gained from the first drift.

The boost chaining system in CTR feels like the revert being added. When you do a drift and time the shoulder presses correctly you gain up to 3 boosts. After which your top speed is just a little bit higher and for a small amount of time.

The jump from Mario Kart SNES to CTR feel like the jump from THPS1/2 to THPS 3. The first 2 Tony Hawk games had cool ideas and established a fun formula. 3 added and finished the combo chain with the revert, where if good enough you are rewarded with big combos that theoretically could go on forever

With how the characters are bigger than the karts, how animated they are when they jump in the air, and the boost chaining were some of the best evolutions of the ideas from OG Mario Kart.
