Itโs very complicated, but traditionally the LDs are opposed to centralization; stand for socially progressive policies and are the most pro-European in the UK. Theyโve also been the strongest advocates of proportional representation.

In short, a centrist party. Long version, the merged result of the Social Democrats, who split from Labour in the 1980s and the Liberal Party, the remains of a party that was big in the early 1900s, but faded in the 1920s.
