I like how these shitweasels think they’re that memorable. Nope there are lots of awful people and once I block them I try to never think about them again

In spite of everything, Donald Trump is still facing the worst electoral map of his political career. He is weak. The RNC is weak. He's is facing an incumbent who beat him once already. America is furious about Roe. He could win, but it is so, so far from a forgone conclusion.

One reason I’m not super worried about AI taking over the world is I mentioned “I don’t especially care about the NBA” on Facebook and now my algorithmic newsfeed is half “this NBA player who you’ve never heard of is now making a bajillion dollars after signing a new deal”

A thing I’m working on is taking a breath and calming down before responding to an infuriating email in a way that I might regret. This is me doing that.

Commonly known as the #seagooseberry , Pleurobrachia pileus is a #combjelly that has longitudinal combs with rows of hairs. As the hairs move in wave like motions the shimmering colourful effect is produced!
The Moray Firth is absolutely full of them just now!

Yeah, 3's my threshold too (physics prof, here). Unless it's an actual error on my part of course, then I send something out to everyone as soon as one person points it out (or I catch it myself).

One of my policies as well! (In small classes, my email/announcement threshold gets as low as 2, or sometimes even 1 if I realize upon seeing the question that I made a mistake/left something out.) It's one of the ways to help students who are too anxious/busy to ask the questions they have.

Here’s an element of my teaching philosophy. If one student has a question, maybe just they didn’t understand the topic. If several students ask the same question, it probably means I didn’t explain it well enough. If I get the same question from 3+ students, I email the answer to everyone.

Keeping Trump out of the White House isn’t the only thing that needs doing and it isn’t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isn’t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I don’t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise

Sometimes I feel about democracy the way folks in my replies talk about climate...if they aren't working on it directly, they feel powerless/hopeless. The only reason I feel decent about climate is because I work on it w other people who care. Guessing that might work for other important stuff too.

But thanks to this analysis, I've decided to re-create my "scientists who do climate" list here this summer, and manually invite each of the 3,000 members on X to join us. If you're still on X, pls consider inviting your followers to join us too!

The thing about Tractor Supply is that it's recent growth is driven almost entirely by chicken sales, to the tune of 11 million chickens a quarter. Chickens, famously, are pretty good at making more chickens. Lowes, which has a pretty good DEI record, now sells chicken feed and supplies.
